Logging Bulgarian split squats

Logging Bulgarian split squats

Keep side, equipment and load conventions clear when recording a unilateral exercise.

Distinguish left and right

When results differ, preserve the distinction in your exercise names or notes. This does not imply automatic side tracking in the app.

Describe the weight convention

Note whether the load means one dumbbell, a pair or another setup. Keep the same convention for later comparisons.

Record setup changes

A different support or equipment arrangement can change the task. This guide explains recordkeeping, not technique, injury treatment or exercise suitability.

Choose a consistent per-side convention

For a unilateral movement such as a Bulgarian split squat, decide whether one recorded set describes both sides or a single side. Keep the convention explicit. If you record 8 repetitions left and 7 right separately, do not later treat that as two identical eight-repetition sets. With dumbbells, also clarify whether the load field means one dumbbell or the combined pair. These choices affect any later total.

Keep setup changes visible

A note can identify a different implement, support setup or exercise variation without implying the entries are directly interchangeable. Compare matching conventions before treating a change in numbers as progress. This article explains the organization of your records; it does not teach movement technique, prescribe balance assistance or recommend a load. For those questions, use instruction suited to your experience and circumstances.
