A 20 kg bar is not exactly 45 lb
One international avoirdupois pound equals exactly 0.45359237 kilograms. A 20 kg bar therefore converts to about 44.092 lb, while 45 lb converts to about 20.412 kg. Those are different marked equipment weights. Use the marking on the bar or plate rather than replacing one with the nearest familiar gym number.
The tool calculates from the exact factor and rounds the displayed result to three decimal places. Converting a rounded result back may produce a small difference. Keep the original value when you need to repeat a calculation.
Convert the same thing you record
If your dumbbell entry means one dumbbell, convert one dumbbell’s weight. If your barbell entry includes the bar and both sides, convert that total. A unit change should not also change what the number represents. Do not combine kg and lb in one arithmetic total without converting them first.
This tool converts mass. It does not select a suitable training load, estimate machine resistance or account for mechanical advantage.
