INSIDE WEIGHTS
Keep warm-up and working sets distinct
Use the separate warm-up and working-set workflow in Weights to make your completed workout easier to review.
Weights documents separate warm-up and working sets. Record the preparation you actually did, then keep it distinguishable from the main sets in your log.

A set label provides context
The same weight and repetition count can mean different things depending on the session. A preparation set is not necessarily a missed working target. Keeping the distinction visible makes a later review more accurate. This page explains the logging feature; it does not prescribe how many warm-up sets you need or how heavy they should be.
Enter actual results in both categories
Use the app’s warm-up and working-set distinction when recording the exercise. Preserve the actual weight and repetitions instead of using a single note for all preparation. If your workout changes, record the changed session rather than copying the intended plan. The example below is fictional and only demonstrates how labels make the record clearer.
Compare working sets with matching context
When you review a session, look at the labels before comparing its heaviest set or total. A larger number of preparation sets can change a raw arithmetic total. Do not assume that every app statistic includes or excludes warm-ups in the same way; check what the displayed metric represents and inspect the underlying records.
Use equipment notes alongside labels
If you used a different bar or machine, note that separately. The barbell calculator totals marked equipment mass; it cannot select an appropriate preparation load. Weights provides a record of the session, while exercise technique, load choice and preparation remain decisions from your own program or qualified guidance.
A record you can interpret later
Illustrative entries only. These numbers are not a training recommendation.
| Type | Illustrative entry | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|
| Warm-up | 20 kg × 8 | Preparation entry |
| Working | 40 kg × 6 | Main recorded set |
| Working | 40 kg × 5 | Actual second result |
Common questions
Does this provide a warm-up prescription?
No. It explains how to distinguish set types in a log.
Are warm-ups excluded from every chart?
Do not assume that. Read the metric and the underlying entries; this page does not make an unverified claim about every chart’s calculation.
